A new way to track Texas clean energy development
In our latest product update, we added more than 1,000 Texas clean energy projects to the Cleanview platform
Texas has quickly become one of the most important markets for clean energy in America. In 2025, 33% of all new renewable and storage projects will be built in the Lone Star state, according to our data at Cleanview.
But the sheer size of the Texas market makes it difficult to track. Nearly 2,000 power projects are currently trying to connect to the Texas grid. Go into the raw interconnection queue data that the state’s grid operator, ERCOT, releases each month and you’ll find a mess of information spread across many files and tabs.
This was the problem that our team at Cleanview set out to solve over the last couple of months. We were already tracking hundreds of projects in Texas, but we wanted to add every project and track their developments over time.
I’m excited to share that after hundreds of hours of building data pipelines, cleaning data, and reading through thousands of public documents, we now have a 100% coverage rate in Texas.
With this new update you can use Cleanview to:
Track every solar, wind, and battery projects in Texas
Identify the top developers in Texas by technology
See when each project passes key milestones (e.g. interconnection agreement, commercial operation, etc).
Analyze market trends and competitive activity
See the exact location of hundreds of projects on a map

Examples of how you can use the new data
Here are a few practical ways you can start exploring the new ERCOT data today.
Let’s say you want to see the top solar developers in ERCOT by pipeline size. You can do that with two clicks in Cleanview.
You can also use Cleanview’s platform to identify “Texas 10” battery storage projects. Due to ERCOT’s interconnection rules, it’s much faster to build and connect a project that is less than 10 MW. As a result, there are a lot of projects in the ERCOT queue that are ~9.9 MW.
And finally, to end with an example that will bring joy to even the most pessimistic clean energy advocate’s heart: Texas—home to one of the world’s largest fossil fuel industries—is hooked on clean energy, according to what’s been built in the last 12 months and what’s planned for the future.

Great work Cleanview! A monumental task, but you did it!
Rock on!!
